Calling Forth Your State of Flow

Artists, musicians, designers, and creatives talk about something special.

They call it “Flow”

It’s this state that you enter when things appear to be coming forth from the ethers.

You’ve probably experienced this as well in your day-to-day life, as the powerhouse you are, and just weren’t aware it was the same thing.

You’ll notice it by the way you feel.

It’s as if there’s this force inside of you, this flash of inspiration, or a voice you hear whispering in your ear like The Muse. Sometimes it’s an image that bursts in your minds eye, clear as day.

And the answers to whatever you were working on come pouring out of you.

If you know this feeling, I couldn’t be more happy for you.

If you don’t know this feeling, fear not.

I didn’t realize what was happening when I first had this experience and thought I was going a tad “off my rocker” the first few times.

None of my contemporaries knew what I was talking about when I’d try to explain it to them.

So what’s a successful strong woman to do when everyone just looks at her like she’s crazy?

Embrace it of course! (Easier said than done at times, don’t worry.)

This relationship with Flow is something that we call forth and harness when my VIP Members get together for our special “invite only” workshops.

It’s not always easy, mind you.

In fact it requires strength, openness, honestly, and a group who all support one another and lift one another up in order to do so.

What’s wild is…

The other day one of my members wasn’t going to show up to her first workshop because she thought it was going to be like the ones she’d been to in the past. She dreaded the idea of attending “Another uninspired get together of ‘Ladies who lunch’” (her words)

She continued on to say, “Susan, your workshops aren’t like that in the slightest!”

What was it that made it so different?

It’s the fact that this is not a “Paint By Numbers” experience. Sure there’s a seed of an idea that’s germinating.

But then we get together and we water that seed and we watch it grow in the room. And it twists and turns and grows into something glorious that’s difficult to capture in mere words.

Let’s just say, “You have to be there to truly experience it.”

And that’s why you’re being short changed.

The designers out there are merely painting by numbers, following the same process over and over again to create pieces and slap a high-end brand name on them and they expect you to feel inspired, empowered, and enlightened when you put them on.

However, they are devoid of that thing that makes them special.

Part of this is because they’re having to produce so much so fast. It’s a never ending conveyor belt of: piece after piece after piece.

‘Fast fashion’ just with a higher “price tag”

Don’t get me wrong, every now and then a designer will create something and you’ll feel the creativity radiate off of it.

But these days those creations are few and far between

AND…

You’re the one who suffers.

You’re the one who has to put on the same tired pieces that don’t inspire you.

Which why I consider my members to be some of the most amazing women on the planet right now.

They embrace the unknown and call this process, The Muse, to come forth and fill the rooms we share. And we all get to bask in this creativity and femininity while we express ourselves in print, fabrics, layers, and design.

It’s truly an experience to behold.
