A True Classic

What is Black and Blue and Never Boring?

ANSWER: A Classic.

A true classic never gets boring.

If it gets boring then it is a sure sign that it is simply fake posing as a classic.

Let me put it like this would you get sick of getting around in a midnight blue Porche (or what ever your car crush is) in preference for a Holden Berina that you replace with Ford Focus?

My car crushes are for a sleek Maserati, elegant Jaguar or a vintage Porche. My Dad says, “Sue you can only drive one car at a time.” I apply farmer Joe’s common sense to the acquisition of wardrobe classics – that is you only need one classic pair of black pants, one black skirt, one black jacket and one black dress every three to five years. When your budget allows for a repeat (not a replacement), repeat in blue, burgundy, brown, cream, green or what ever colour your heart desires for variety.

A lot of women tell me that they have multiple repeats on black or blue classics in their wardrobe that they get bored of so then they go out and buy something on the fly for variety.

I am so sorry to tell that if you have multiples and you don’t love any of them then you have been sold fakes! Just like being sold a fake watch, bag or runners. If you feel like something is missing which you cannot put your finger on… and you find yourself trying to fill the gap but just end up with more dissatisfying stuff in different colours let me help you off the hamster wheel.

This is how you spot a fake classic, the distinguishing features are obvious… but not obvious because they are simply not there. A fake classic does not possess the hallmarks of quality. Quality hallmarks that go amiss in a fake classic start with cloth, then there is fit (including good construction and the ability to alter or repair) and drumroll… a really important element… excellent design!

Yes women, quality in design is something that makes the difference between a fashion trend and a keeper. A keeper is that piece that you hope will never die because you love it sooo much. You love it so much because it always works for you and is never boring. In fact it becomes a defining cornerstone of your own unique dress code. Design, is central to the holy trinity of quality;
1) cloth
2) design
3) fit (and fit for purpose – more about that soon)
Once you experience it this powerful union of quality you just know you have your classic every time it slips onto your body with ease.

You, like me, might never drop a $100K on a car (I don’t even have a license) but the really bad news is the average adult will drop over a $100K clothes between the ages of thirty and sixty without really trying… and wind up with nothing that is a keeper! I know most of my readers consider themselves above average (way above average) so stop and think about it… you may never get around in a Porche but don’t you want to get around in some quality design that looks smart and transports you everywhere all of the time?

How many times have you had a piece that eventually died and you wish you had bought two of them? MATERIALBYPRODUCT classics come from our fifteen year design archive and are determined by women coming back and demanding, “I love that dress so much same again, different colour please!” This is what all the smartest most stylish women I create with typically do… because they can.

So if you are ready for true classics return this email with I am ready and I will be in touch soon.

PS! I also promise to share the secrets on how to spot future classics too.
